Are You Ready to Unplug? Questioning the Program and Reclaiming Your Authentic Self

Since I was a kid, I’ve been a questioner—a relentless “why?” machine. At six, I was already poking holes in the narratives I was fed, and honestly, that curiosity has been one of the most rewarding journeys of my life. Why? Because so much of what we’re taught—what we absorb from our families, schools, and society—is just…programming. Passed-down rules, expectations, even emotions that don’t actually serve us.

What Do You Choose?

Pause for a moment and reflect: what aspects of your life are truly yours? Which beliefs, habits, and desires spring from your soul? And which have been impressed upon you—unconsciously adopted simply because they were the norm around you?

It’s a confronting question, and the answers can be surprising. Some of the things you hold most dear—your definition of success, your relationship patterns, even your fears—might actually be hand-me-downs.

Unpacking the Program

So, how do we begin to unplug? How do we question the program and unlearn what doesn’t belong to us?

• Become Aware: Notice when something feels “off.” That dissonance is often a sign that a belief or habit isn’t aligned with your true self.

• Ask the Hard Questions: Once you spot a program, interrogate it. Where did it come from? Does it truly resonate with me? Does it serve my highest good?

• Listen to Your Intuition: Your inner wisdom knows the truth. Spend time in silence, in nature, or in meditation, and hear that quiet voice within.

• Embrace the Uncomfortable: Unlearning can be emotional. Old programs often feel tied to our identity and belonging. It’s okay to grieve beliefs that no longer serve you.

• Choose Love: Self-compassion is essential. Recognize that you’ve been doing your best with what you know. It’s okay to evolve, to change your mind, and to unlearn.

A Journey of Self-Discovery

Questioning the program isn’t about rejecting everything you’ve been taught. It’s about discernment—choosing what aligns with your authentic self and releasing what doesn’t. It’s about creating a life that reflects your values, passions, and purpose.

This journey can be deep, sometimes tearful, as you unpack years of ingrained beliefs. But the freedom that comes from living authentically? It’s unparalleled.

So, are you ready to unplug?
